An Iconic Location In The World

I took a break from Pittsburgh and did some travelling. Then, I saw a plane, helicopter and a flock of birds flying together in a cloudy sky. If you follow my post and comments, you would know that I was ill because I was secretly travelling. I did not want to officially announce it on my blog because I did not want to break the flow of articles I have prepared to post.

I travelled through a world's iconic location and I have a quiz for you. From the picture below, can you guess which iconic place in the world I have been?

Skyline of a city with a plane, helicopter and a flock of birds taken from a distance

Write your guess in the comments below and tell me which part of the picture affected your decision. To give everyone a fair chance to guess, I will announce the location in the comments of this article sometime on Saturday (Eastern Standard Time). So please visit my blog again for the actual location if you are commenting before Sunday.

No clue, but I like the composition!

Interesting to see a plane and a helicopter in the same frame.

If I know city skylines better I'm sure I would be able to tell, but here I don't know. There's one building that could be the Empire State building, so could it be NYC? I wouldn't bet on it.
Anyway, love your photo: the 2 aircraft (plane and helicopter) one above the other make for a surprising composition, I like it. The colours are wonderful : great hues!

My initial reaction was New York, taken from the vicinity of La Guardia Airport, with the Empire State Building on the left and the WTC on the right. But it's not.

Just a guess, but NYC skyline? Regardless, it's a pretty shot.

My first reaction was NYC based on the Empire State lookalike. But, the skyline is too bare..so, I'm not sure.
Glad your flu is past!

I am not much of a traveler these days, so I don't have a clue. Near some airport?

Busy linear skies! Kind of eery, like a view from Russia.

Skyline of New York City taken from JFK international airport

Well done to Nathalie Avignon; Al; Peter; and Stan.

It looks like the Empire State building played an important role for many of you in this quiz. I hope you all enjoy the quiz and hope to see you all around soon! Very Happy Smiley

Hmmm, I am guessing along with everybody else NYC but the skyline does look a little bare. I love the pic.

I also thought NYC because of the Empire State Building but it did indeed look too sparsely built up Maybe I am accustomed to seeing the skyline along the Hudson River at ground level from New Jersey! BTW I easily saw Three River Stadium after I found that the panorama had opened in a new window and gone unnoticed for a few hours.

Good way to get the punters in.
It looks bleak and not very inviting.

Hi all, thanks again for visiting my blog and for the comments. Very Happy Smiley

Ken Schneider: I deliberately wanted to give some clue in the photo, but not too much.

jo: lol. I wanted to do something different. Something that will make sky watching more enjoyable for the community. Happy Smiley
